Basswood Hardwood
Basswood Hardwood
Description
Basswood hardwood (also known as American basswood) is one of the "softest" of the hardwood family, and is valued for its workability, especially in hard carving.
In color and appearance, the heartwood (closer to tree center) is a creamy white to light tan color. Whereas, the sapwood (closer to tree bark) is very white.
Basswood hardwood typically has a straight grain, with a fine uniform texture.
MakerStock Basswood Hardwood is S4S, meaning it has been surfaced on all four sides. Each panel has been planed or milled to create a smooth and finished appearance on all four sides making it the perfect project ready material.
We stock Basswood hardwood in 4 1/2" widths in nominally sized 1/4" and 3/4" thicknesses.
